Our Office Philosophy
Our goal is to give you the best and most comprehensive vision examination that you ever had. We never rush you through the exam.
Dr. Gushiken believes that the majority of his patients do not need to change their eyeglasses prescription every year. If the patient sees well with their glasses, there’s no reason to change it. (This is called the “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” approach.) Many of our patients have worn the same prescription for over 20 years.
Our office does recommend yearly appointments because there are several eye diseases that can “sneak up” without any obvious symptoms (e.g., glaucoma – both open angle and narrow angle, diabetic retinopathy, and some retinal tumors).
Dr. Gushiken is happy to provide patients with their prescription, giving patients the opportunity to find affordable eyeglasses/contacts at any optical store in Hawaii or online.
